AN ORDINANCE REGULATING THE, USES OF BUILDINGS, STRUCTURES, AND LAND FOR TRADE, INDUSTRY, COMMERCE, RESIDENCE, RECREATION, PUBLIC ACTIVITIES OR OTHER PURPOSES, THE SIZE OF YARDS, COURTS, AND OTHER OPEN SPACES, THE LOCATION, HEIGHT, BULK, NUMBERS OF STORIES AND SIZE OF BUILDINGS AND OTHER STRUCTURES; THE DENSITY AND DISTRIBUTION OF THE BOUNDARIES THEREOF; DEVINING CERTAIN TERMS USED HEREIN; PROVIDING FOR THE METHOD OF ADMINISTRATION, AMENDMENT AND ENFORCEMENT, PROVIDING PENALTIES FOR VIOLATIONS, PROVIDING FOR A BOARD OF ADJUSTMENT AND DEFINING THE DUTIES AND POWERS OF SAID BOARD;
REPEALING CONFLICTING ORDINANCES; AND FOR OTHER PURPOSES.
ARTICLE I
PURPOSE, AUTHORITY, SHORT TITLE AND JURISDICTION
PURPOSE
The zoning regulations and districts as herein set forth have been made in accordance with a comprehensive plan and designed to lessen congestion in the streets, secure safety from fire, panic and other dangers; promote health and the general welfare;
provide adequate light and air; prevent the overcrowding of land; avoid undue congestion of population; facilitate the adequate provision of transportation, water, sewerage, schools, parks and other public facilities. They have been made with reasonable consideration to the character of the various districts and their peculiar suitability for particular uses, and with a view to conserving the value of buildings and encouraging the most appropriate use of land throughout the community.
AUTHORITY
The Board of Commissioners of the Town of Lilesville, North Carolina, in pursuance of the authority granted by the General Statutes of North Carolina (Chapter 160A-381) hereby ordains and enacts into law the following Articles and Sections.
SHORT TITLE
This ordinance shall be known and may be cited as The Zoning Ordinance of the Town of Lilesville, North Carolina.
