The Town of Lilesville was incorporated March 7, 1897, and is located east of Wadesboro in Anson County, N.C., with a population of 469. The Town was named for the Elijah Liles family.
Lilesville is known for many firsts, such as the first all fireproof school building in America. The school was demolished in 1987 to make room for a new $5 million elementary school building that was opened in the fall of 1991.
Some other firsts in Lilesville include the first hot lunches served in a school and the first bank drive-through window.
